Ulam is a traditional salad or any vegetables (mostly leafy) that can be consumed raw in the Malay language. With the tropical climate blessing of edible vegetation growing wild especially in the country side there are over 50 types of vegetables suitable to be consumed as ulam. Depending on the vegetable, parts used for ulam can be the leaves, shoots, fruits, seeds and/or roots.
